Five Star Cattle Systems, LLC is the continuation of what started in 1996 as Monfort Integrated Genetics. The original ownership was Magness Land and Cattle of Platteville, Colorado, and Monfort of Colorado. As ConAgra acquired ownership of Monfort feedlots and beef packing facilities, we became ConAgra Better Beef and operated as such from 2000 through 2004. Smithfield Foods, Inc. acquired the ConAgra Feedlots in Colorado and Idaho in the fall of 2004. We are now entering an exciting, new era as Five Star Cattle Systems, LLC, and are owned jointly by Magness Land and Cattle and Smithfield Beef Group.

Our goal remains the same; "To provide superior beef genetics to cow-calf producers that will in turn improve quality and performance in a fully integrated beef production system."

Five Star Cattle Systems, LLC has four key components:

• Strauss Meadow Reserve/Free Raised Veal Programs-administrator of label compliance and verification. This program is seeking antibiotic, hormone free, age and source verified calves that are Limousin or percentage Limousin. Strauss Brands has developed and marketed America's first Limousin-based veal product. There are many advantages to the producer such as: calves are purchased straight from the cow, equal value for heifers, steers, and bulls, and a hot carcass weight bonus. • Provider of Superior Beef Genetics through the sale of bulls to commercial cow-calf customers. We offer Angus, Red Angus, Limousin, and LimFlex hybrid bulls. Our bulls represent the most proven, performance and carcass evaluated sire lines available in each of the respective breeds offered. We also offer the industry's most comprehensive first breeding season guarantee against injury or death.
• Procurement of Program Specific Feeder Cattle to Five Rivers Cattle Feeding. That means we are more than a little interested in your feeder cattle. We are always interested in ranch raised load lots of quality cattle that represent known genetics.

• Third Party Verification for all Source and Age and all "Certified Natural" cattle coming into the Smithfield/Five Rivers network. We offer Source and Age verification, as well as "Natural" cattle certification, to any cow-calf and backgrounder operations with serious interest in added value programs.
